Iroquois Valley Farmland REIT is an organic farmland finance company that provides farmer-friendly leases and mortgages to the next generation of organic farmers. Since our founding in 2007, we have directed $115 million in investments in organic agriculture. Our goal is to make organic agriculture the norm, not the exception in America to benefit the health of the soil and of future generations.
The company is committed to the triple bottom line — social responsibility, environmental soundness, and economic viability. We are pleased that this commitment has been recognized: Iroquois Valley obtained Certified B Corporation status in 2012; this certification is managed by the independent non-profit B Labs, which awarded Iroquois Valley as “B Corps Best for Community” in 2014 and “B Corps Best for the World” from 2016 to 2019. Iroquois Valley was also chosen by Impact Assets as a participant in its Impact 50 (IA50) listing of worldwide impact investments from 2012 to 2024.
Our Company Roots:
Our story begins in Iroquois County, Illinois, located at the epicenter of conventional agriculture in America. It is the home of the first farm we invested in, and this place serves as the heart of everything we do. Iroquois County is where we planted our roots and the seeds for a company that would reach across the nation to keep farmers on the land, and convert thousands of acres of conventionally farmed land into organic agriculture. It all started when two former college roommates set out to transform finance, agriculture, and public health.
