FARM STORY
Jacqueline Smith founded Central Grazing Company in 2015 on the premise that all livestock deserve a good, peaceful, humane life. After working for many years co-running a sustainable sheep dairy, Jacqueline pinpointed gaps in restorative land management supply chains. While the ewes raised for milking and breeding were treated humanely, there was no control over the life cycle of the lambs who were bred and sold at auction. With a mission to provide these lambs with a better quality of life and address barriers to entry for regenerative lamb, she founded Central Grazing Company.

Jacqueline raises breeding stock and works with other regional lamb producers to shepherd their flocks, with an eye toward environmental stewardship through regenerating grasslands and building a transparent supply chain that aims for zero waste. Central Grazing exclusively raises and sources lamb that can be bought at Natural Grocers, their lead purchasing partner. Prioritizing strong animal welfare standards is of utmost importance to Central Grazing because they believe how they raise their lambs leads to healthier soil, a healthier planet, and better lives for all who depend on the earth.
